Early Life and Education
Arjun Ram Meghwal was born on December 20, 1953, in Kishmidesar village in Bikaner district of Rajasthan. He is a member of the Scheduled Caste Meghwal community. He did his schooling from Government Dungar College in Bikaner and then went on to earn a Master of Arts in Political Science from the same college. He also has a law degree from the University of Philippines.
Political Career
Meghwal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1990 and has been a member of the party ever since. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009 from the Bikaner constituency. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 and 2019.
In the Modi government, Meghwal has held various ministerial positions. He was the Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises from 2014 to 2019. He was then appointed as the Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in 2019. In 2021, he was appointed as the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture. In 2023, he was appointed as the Minister of Law and Justice 18 May 2023
